It is with deep sorrow that I inform you of the death of Pauline Riskin, z’l, Gary Riskin’s mother. Gary and Pam, of course, were long-time active members of B’Chavana before moving to Colorado. We once brought Shabbat to Pauline at the Victory Centre in Vernon Hills, where she lived the last years of her life, celebrating with her and several members of her community. Gary, of course, is well known in particular for his inventive challot with which he graced our Shabbat gatherings, saffron and Halloween candy included (although not at the same time).
Our condolences go out to Gary and Pam and to their family.
Please feel free to post comments below for Gary and Pam to read.
Here are the details for tomorrow’s funeral:
On Friday, March 23rd at 10:00 am, graveside services will be held at Shalom Memorial Park. Shivah will be immediately following until 6:00 pm at the home of Shaun and Kevin Kirsh, 2846 Woodland Dr., Northbrook, IL. Shaun is Gary’s sister.
Shivah will also be observed on Sunday, March 25th at 5:00 pm at the home of Shelley Riskin, 2000 Chestnut Ave, Apt 502, Glenview IL. Minyan will be held at 6:00 PM
I’m hopeful that Gary and Pam will be able to join us for Shabbat morning tefilot at the Campbells, where we will be able to offer our love and support and provide them with a community in which to say Kaddish.
Zichrono livracha – May her memory be for a blessing.
