It’s not too late to sign up for our Shabbat morning trip to Beth Shalom B’nai Zaken Ethiopian Hebrew Congregation in Marquette Park (http://www.bethshalombz.org/). It is a unique congregation. Consisting largely – but not entirely – of African-American members, its worship style combines a traditional Jewish ethos and practice with the musical style of African-American churches. We’ll travel together to share this special experience and will remain for lunch and an opportunity to meet and talk with members of the community.
Tefilot begin at 10:30 am and run until approximately 1:00. Lunch follows; we’ll be guests of the congregation but also want to contribute to their luncheon, which ends at 2:00.
Modest and respectful dress is expected: women in long skirts and sleeves, men in jacket and tie. Heads should be covered. Men and women sit separately across the center aisle.
We want to coordinate the food we’ll bring and help with carpools. Please use this potluck link TODAY to help us to do that: https://www.perfectpotluck.com/meals.php?t=HFKH5890.
We look forward to sharing this special experience with you.
