Those of us who gathered at OSRUI for our kallah had a fabulous time of learning, singing and laughing.  I intend to write more about it later in the week. We missed those of you who couldn’t come.

This coming Shabbat morning we will look at the following passage from Pirke Avot – Teachings of our Sages – and explore some commentaries on it, focused on small ways to make more peace in the world:

הִלֵּל וְשַׁמַּאי קִבְּלוּ מֵהֶם. הִלֵּל אוֹמֵר, הֱוֵי מִתַּלְמִידָיו שֶׁל אַהֲרֹן, אוֹהֵב שָׁלוֹם וְרוֹדֵף שָׁלוֹם, אוֹהֵב אֶת הַבְּרִיּוֹת וּמְקָרְבָן לַתּוֹרָה:

Hillel and Shammai received from them. Hillel says, “Be of the disciples of Aaron, loving peace and pursuing peace, loving the creatures and bringing them closer to Torah.”

Of course, we’ll sing and celebrate Shabbat in our usual fashion as well. And I ask, if you need an extra reason, to come to support Rachel and enable her to say Kaddish with a minyan.

Leslie will host; please sign up right away for our potluck luncheon:

Remember please:
We support the work of the KUMC Food Pantry. This Shabbat, please bring toothbrushes to be paired with a very generous donation of toothpaste the pantry has received.

9:45     Coffee & schmooze
10:00    Tefilot & learning

I wish you a good week and look forward to celebrating with you this coming Shabbat morning.
